Michael is a Senior Vice President with Coker and has been working in healthcare performance improvement for 24 years. He has worked with 45+ Healthcare provider clients covering digital transformation strategy, patient access, EHR Optimization (Epic), revenue cycle, and clinical operations. He currently leads Coker’s Patient Access and Digital Front Door advisory practice and led this a similar advisory practice at a competitive consulting firm prior to joining Coker.
Michael started his career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers Consulting and continued his healthcare consulting career at University Health System Consortium (UHC) as a Principal Consultant working with 28 different Academic Medical Centers, including reputable health systems such as Denver Health, Emory Healthcare, Stanford Hospital and Clinics, UAB Health, and the University of Maryland Medical Center.
At Piedmont Healthcare, Michael served as the Executive Director, Project Management Office reporting to the Chief of Strategy and Performance Improvement for the health system. He launched the lean transformation office and led an internal management consulting team that completed various projects in patient access, EHR optimization, revenue cycle, and clinical operations. Michael is a certified Lean Six Sigma black belt through the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
Michael served as a National Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award Examiner in 2011 and 2014. Michael also trained under Dr. Brent James at Intermountain Healthcare receiving his ATP certification. Michael has been teaching Performance Improvement Methods in Healthcare for the past 11 years at Emory University as an adjunct professor.
